Wendell Owen Werk, a.ka. “Ol’ Baby” or “Chief,” left this world suddenly on August 26, 2022. He was born on October 1, 1963 to Monica (Lamebull) and Robert “Sonny” Werk at Ft. Belknap, MT. “In a hospital,” according to his wise sister, Wilma.
He went to St. Paul’s Mission School from first to eighth grade. He then attended Hays/Lodgepole High School for a while. He and his oldest niece were in a couple of classes together.
He loved to hunt, fish, and cruise around in the Mission Canyon. He especially loved to hang out with his buddies. He had a special place in his heart for his dog. He had a beautiful smile, a quick wit, a great sense of humor and a unique, deep laugh that couldn’t help but join in on!
Wendell really liked to tease people. If he got your goat, so to speak, you’d hear that great laugh! The more he liked you, the more he teased you!
Though this loss is a great one, so many happy memories were made. He will live on in the hearts of his family and friends who cherish him.
Wendell was the youngest of 14. He is survived by his siblings: Phyllis M. Sells, Robert D. (Roberta), Andy J (Darlene), Wilma, Beverly, Milton (Frances), Dean (Cheryl), Neil (Nanette), Charles Werk (Farrel), Jeanette Falls Down (Josh). He’s also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by: Parents Monica and Robert “Sonny” Werk, Grandparents, Great Grandparents, and siblings Charles, Gary, Terrence, Glen, and Greg.
Cremation has taken place per his request. There will be no wake or funeral service, also per his wishes.
