Travis " Trapper" Skoyen Obituary

Beloved Chinook resident, Travis “Trapper” Skoyen passed away at the age of 48 on December 1 in Great Falls, MT after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Trapper was born February 26, 1977, in Havre, MT to John and Barbara Skoyen. He graduated from Chinook High School in 1995 and went to work for Red Rock Power as a journeyman lineman in that same year. In 1999, Trapper was one of four original members to start Outback Power Company, where he built powerline and mentored many young men until retirement in 2019.

Upon retirement, Trapper turned his attention to farming and ranching with his dad and brother, Chris. Trapper was passionate about agriculture and loved sharing that lifestyle with his family, including his wife, Eryn; son, Rangler; and daughters, Camielle and Genavieve. He was also passionate about serving his community and was a Board Member for both the Blaine County Cruisers and the Bear Paw Roundup Rodeo. Trap never missed an opportunity to support local youth; whether it was purchasing raffle tickets, coaching wrestling, or setting up bleachers, he was there.

Trapper lived life to the fullest every day and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, infectious laugh, big hugs, and enormous heart. He never met a stranger, and his passing will leave a hole in the hearts of many.

He is survived by his wife, Eryn (Darlington) Skoyen of Big Sandy; son, Rangler Skoyen; and daughters, Camielle and Genavieve Nissen; parents, John and Barbara Skoyen; siblings, Scott (Courtney) Skoyen, Christopher (Jill Barta) Skoyen, and Clarissa Skoyen; Grandmother, Loma Miller; nieces, Bailey, Tasha, and Piper Skoyen; and nephews, Gage and Maverick Skoyen. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Ruby Skoyen and Howard Miller.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chinook High School gymnasium with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Commercial Building on the Blaine County Fairgrounds. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bear Paw Roundup Rodeo. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilderness Funeral Homes.
