Terrance Elliot Wilson

Terrance Elliot Wilson received the call to his eternal home on July 22, 2026 surrounded by love at the age of 84.  He passed away of natural causes at the Phillips County Hospital. Cremation has taken place and the service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the Malta Lutheran Church, Malta, Montana.  Burial at the Malta Cemetery will follow.  A luncheon will follow at the Wicks Hall at the Malta Lutheran Church. 

Terry was born September 24, 1941 to Vernon R. Wilson and Marjorie B. Hanson of Hazel Run, Minnesota.  He was joined by a brother Charles Wilson six years later.  Terry graduated from high school in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.  He attended South Dakota State University where he majored in Land Management.  After graduating, he got a job at the Bureau of Land Management in Malta, Montana where he met his wife, Norma C. Taylor.  They were married November 27, 1963.  They moved to Baker City, Oregon where they welcomed two children, Michelle in 1966 and Vicki in 1968.  After three years of working in Oregon, they moved back to Malta. Bridgit joined the family in 1972.  Terry would work in Glasgow and Miles City before he fully retired after 35 years of working for the BLM Malta kept calling them back and he resided there until his death.

He loved to hunt, fish, and do woodworking. Many of us have his woodworking in our homes. The tool bucket was always ready with everything in its place.  He was able to fix almost anything.  He loved working at the church and the Boys and Girls Club.  Helping at the ranch working cows became a favorite pastime.  He was always on the lookout for leafy spurge. Yelling at the Vikings and the Twins games was a Sunday pastime.  He was always there to support his children, grandchildren and friends.  He enjoyed following their numerous activities.  Come rain or shine, wind or freezing temperatures he was always out walking.  Lunch is at noon and don’t be late because he was starving.  The “Loan Shark” could always be counted on for a helping hand financially.  He was always proud of his dumpster finds.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Vernon and Marjorie Wilson, his in-laws, Hugh and Gloria Taylor, his wife of 47 years Norma C. Wilson, his brother and sister in laws, George and Pat Taylor, Richard and Ruth Taylor, Karen Taylor.

He is survived by his three daughters, Michelle (Larry) Smith of Malta, Vicki (Mark Richardson) Wilson and Bridgit (Reed) Gerth both of Billings; his grandchildren Caitlin (Tanner) Anderson, Ryan (Kimberly) Smith, Rebecca (Weston) Harmon,  Logan and Garrett Leidholt, Hunter (Shawna) Gerth,  Colton (Claire) Gerth, and Livia Gerth, his great grandchildren, Tova, Tant, Tryan, and Taos Anderson, Ryker, Renlee, Roeyn, Rennix Smith, Kassidy, Walker, Ella Harmon, and Beau and Callen Gerth; his brother Charles (Barbara) Wilson, his brother in-laws Roy ( Marilyn) Taylor, Albert Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that any donations be made to the Malta Lutheran Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted with Wilderness Funeral Home.
