On March 13, 2026, our beloved Stacy Jo Gray-Ironman began her journey to the Creator and our relatives who watch over us. She believed in our native spirituality and that we would see our loved ones who passed on before us. She had a kind heart and strong spirit. She was courageous in her battle with diabetes type II. She loved whole heartedly, everyone that knew her you were automatically “my girl” or “my boy”. Stacy’s bright smile could light up a room. Her compassion for others often helped her through her health struggles. Her sense of humor was easily share with all around her and her laughter invited others to laugh with her. She was always so proud of her families’ accomplishments and was there with open arms when her family members suffered life’s challenges. Her welcoming love and acceptance were her greatest strengths.
She was born on June 6, 1966, to Judith “Judy” Myrick Gray and Gordon Gray. Stacy grew up in Hays, Montana with four other siblings, within a wealth of family, cousins and many friends. She is the descendant of the Gone family of Hays and the Gray family of Lodge Pole. By her maternal grandmother’s second marriage she gained many uncles, aunties, and cousins of the Jim Snow, II’s family. She was an enrolled Nakoda and Aaniinen. She graduated from Hays/Lodge Pole High School and attended Aaniiih Nakoda College (Fort Belknap College) and earned an Associate of Applied Science in Secretarial Science.
Stacy’s first child, Kylee Beth Stiffarm was from a warm relationship with Stuart Stiffarm. She met and fell in love with Joe Ironman, Jr. and they created Joseph, III, Skyelyn, and Caitlin. Joe, Jr. brought his children from a previous relationship. She welcomed his children with an open heart; Lichelle, Joey, Vanessa, and Adam Kahnapace. She is the proud Kooshie of three beautiful girls. Stacy and Joe ceremonially adopted Nakota Cree Begay as a daughter and Ethan Werk as another son.
They lived and raised their family at the Fort Belknap Agency where she worked for the Fort Belknap Indian Health Service. Stacy worked in many capacities while at IHS that made her a well-rounded experienced employee. She retired after 32+ years, leaving many friends who appreciated her integrity and loyalty.
Stacy had many very good friends, like Janice Doney who was her Matron-Of-Honor at her wedding where her younger brother, Gordon “Oly” Gray gave her away to the love of her life, Joe, Jr. She enjoyed traveling and following the local basketball games, attending pow-wows, and traveling about the country. Stacy participated in the Sun Dance Lodges and was very faithful to the Creator and cherished many blessings throughout her life. The love she had for the moon and lightning will live on in the hearts of her children. So, when the moon shines bright and lightning flashes, they will feel her there.
Her family members who are waiting to greet her are her parents, Judy and Gordon Gray, brother Neil Gray, grandparents, Bertha and Jim Snow, Paul Myrick, Andrew and Jenny Gray, Agnes and Walter Longfox, niece Erin Kay Lewis, Aunts: Deanna Boe, Nona “Pixie” Pitkanen, Elinor Sullivan, Winona Gives, Melvina “Tiny” Snow, Shirley Myrick; Uncles: Billy Myrick, Jim “Snowman” Snow III, Kermit Snow, Elwell “Ozzie” Snow, her favorite uncle Louis “Buckskin” LaTray, who named her “Sad-Jo”, and Charlis Jana Grayboy, Curtis “Pudd”, Lyndon, and Steven Grayboy, and many dear family members too many to name.
Those waiting to see her again, her husband, Joe, Jr., her children, Kylee Stiffarm and her husband Tyrel Rock and their children; Joseph, Skyelyn, Caitlin, Ethan, Lichelle, Joey, Vanessa and Adam.
