Obituary

Sharon Lee Flying was born October 11, 1944 in Wasay Wakpa to Wilke Flying and Jeannette Brisbo. She made her journey to the Other Side Camp on June 28, 2023 in Great Falls due to natural causes. Sharon’s early years were spent in her hometown of LodgePole with her family and relatives. She was raised by her grandparents Rex Flying & Ester Lemmon-Flying. She was immersed in her Nakoda language and culture. She attended school in LodgePole up to the 8th grade. In 1961 she met her love - Larry Gunn and they were married shortly after. To this union 4 children were born – Austin Brooks, Aaron Dean, Lawrence Joseph, and Stacey Lynn. After Larry’s death she met Gerald “Roger” HasEagle and to this union Dawn Rose was born. Later on, she met Henry “Jody” Cliff and her youngest was born - Gerard Wade. During her life she lived in many different places of which Chicago & California was her favorites. She would tell her kids and grandkids many stories of her escapades throughout the country. Throughout her life she held various different jobs from fencing and sheepherding with Larry in the Larb Hills of eastern MT, to working on the Air Force Base in Glasgow, to being a seamstress under the supervision of Dora Helgeson, and a Cooks Helper at the Medicine Bear Lodge. After raising her kids, she began her favorite past time of being with her grandkids, fixing jigsaw puzzles, teaching her kids and grandkids to play Jacks and playing Scrabble and Monopoly. Her favorite days were spent in her home surrounded by her grandkids and taking care of all the dogs and pets that made their home with her.

Her relatives that have gone on before her were her parents, Wilke Flying and Jeannette Brisbo, grandparents Rex Flying and Ester Lemmon, Annie WhiteCow and Bill Brisbo, Robert Lemmon and Two Woman, Grows Flying, husband - Larry Gunn, companions - Roger HasEagle & Jody Cliff, Siblings Jean Latray, Joyce Brisbo, Joan Brisbo, Wade Healy, SonnyMan Flying. Aunts & Uncles Mable & Hamilton LongKnife, Adam Flying, Martin Flying, Vina Gone, Irvin & Dora Flying, Vernie & Jimmy Main, Inez Bagley, Ruth Winchell, and Shirley Brisbo. Sons Gerard Wade Healy and Lawrence Joseph Healy Jr. A grandson Austin Healy Jr. and special daughter-in-law Miranda Shanta-Gunn.

She is survived by her children Austin of LodgePole, Aaron of Yakima, WA, Stacey (Joe) Messerly of LodgePole, DawnRose (Don) Racine of Dodson. Her grandkids who she raised Derek (Suzanne) Gunn and LaNika Flying both of LodgePole. Her Siblings Florence & Gus Helgeson, Chan (Terry) Healy, SonnyBoy Flying, and Roberta BigKnife. Her grandkids Hunter (Stacy Jo) Healy, Aarica Healy, Aaron Jr (Molly), Vina Healy, Charles Rex, Lyric Healy, Angellena Crazy, Eric Healy, Kelley Cliff, Lynette (Clayton), Tiana (Branden), Moke (Lacey), Tiffany (Shaun), Shannie Gunn, Mikey Dean Messerly, Alyssa Flying, Kyla Jo Racine, Kadin Racine. Great grandkids: Kaidence, Kailoni, Kane, Izan, Gerard, Aaron, Olowan Wi, Matthew, Joshua, Kamaya, Kaliyah, Taylynn, Ava, Jazilee, Mariah, Karston, Tishnaga, Aponni, Asher Jr, Andrea, Ian, Tahniya, and Ohaziya Onowa.

Her special friends she enjoyed being around: Sister Laura (deceased), Elmyra Wing, Mary Helgeson, her Yahtzee partner – Evie Werk.
