Loving long time resident Shannon Jean Morin, 49, journeyed home to be with the Lord and preceding loved ones to the Big Camp in Harlem, MT. She was born in Havre, MT to Dwight “Oscar” Frederick Morin and Sandra Mae Morin (Jendro) on October 27th, 1976. She is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa tribe in ND. During her childhood years, she always enjoyed spending time with grandma Marie and grandpa Mike Morin over in Hays, and she enjoyed life with her siblings. As she grew up, she attended Harlem Elementary and Harlem High Schools. This is where she met her amazing best friends Twila Cochran, Amanda Nez Perce, April Valenzuela, Stephanie Jackson, along with many other amazing friends and side kicks she gained and loved over the many years of her life. During high school, she met Stan Hawley. This connection brought her son Trevor Jon into the world.
After graduating in Harlem, she attended Fort Belknap College to earn her Associate’s degree, then attended MSU Northern in Havre, MT for a moment. During the summers, she’d firefight for the community and made the best of it. She then decided to pursue a dental assistant program to then successfully be positioned at the dental at Fort Belknap IHS for years. During this time, she met Terrance Piapot and this union brought Tevah Jean and Terra Jo. She worked hard at this time to support, love and provide for her loved ones.
After some time, she decided to pursue other paths and started working at tribal health for a moment. After many obstacles and challenges, she found a new life with Anthony McKay and they spent life together for 15 years; with this union, Tyler James was born.
Shannon was a very loving, strong, resilient woman who loved her children, family, and loving friends who became family. She enjoyed anything that brought people together as she loved having mutual friends meet. Loved cooking, especially for loved ones and those who were in need. Always enjoyed going to the casinos and saying hi to everyone that she passed by. She loved shopping, even more so when it was for her kids, loved ones, or someone in need. Most of all, she loved doing anything that involved her children as they are her greatest accomplishments in her loving life.
Shannon is survived by sons Trevor Jon Hawley of Missoula, MT and Tyler James McKay of Havre, MT; daughters Tevah Jean Piapot of Chinook, MT and Terra Jo Piapot of Great Falls, MT; brothers Bryce Eli Morin of Great Falls, MT, Warren (Candy) Morin of Hays, MT, Chug Morin of Hays, MT, and Kenneth (Kay) Morin of Hays, MT, sister Marie Morin of Harlem, MT; nephews Paul Iles of Baton Rouge, LA, and Robin Morin of Great Falls, MT; nieces Michaela Morin of NC, Auji Iles of Baton Rouge, LA, Constance Morin of Great Falls, MT, and Miracle Morin of Greats Falls, MT; aunt Charlotte (Joe) Brummer; uncle Ronnie Jendro; and numerous cousins and friends that became family.
Shannon was preceded in death by parents Dwight “Oscar” and Sandra (Jendro) Morin; brothers Robin Morin and Michael “Iggy” Morin; paternal grandparents Mike and Marie (Doney) Morin; maternal grandparents Irving and Nancy (Osterloth) Jendro; uncles Marvin “Fatty” Morin, Ronald “Dodo” Morin, Douglas Morin, Blaine Morin, Robert “Bob” Jendro, Kenneth Jendro, and Michael Jendro; aunts Susan Friede and Constance Morin.
