Rosemary "Bunny" Peak Obituary

Rosemary “Bunny” Snell Peak was born on January 27, 1935, the fourth- born daughter of Jim and Azalea Snell. Bunny was raised and educated in Hays, graduating from Mission High School in May of 1954. A few days later, she married the love of her life, Elias Levi Peak, whom she met earlier in her senior year of high school in Harlem. As she and her sisters Pedee were walking by the grand theater and Don’s Pharmacy. When she married Eli she had two sons, Raymond and Fudd, whom she helped raise.

After they married, they moved to the outskirts of Chinook where Eli was working. Sometime later they moved to Havre. During their time in Havre Bunny and Eli were given the greatest gift of a son Tim and a daughter Nanette whom they adopted. Eli worked for Eddie’s Bakery.

In the fall of 1970 Eli was transferred to Eddie’s Bakery in Great Falls where the family lived until 1979 when Eli retired, then the family moved to Hays and she began working as a police officer. Then later Bunny worked for Foster Grandparents Program at the Ramona Kind Headstart in Hays. Bunny was the longest working foster grandparent at the Hays center. She loved children, especially her nieces and nephews, she had a special relationship with her niece Colleen, Suzi Gardipee, whom she helped raise as a young girl, Suzi stayed with Bunny and Eli a lot in Havre. She was an avid dog lover and had many pets.

Bunny is survived by her children Tim and Nanette, grandchildren Annesha, Elias,  Bridger, Dakota, Chrissy, Jodi. Nieces Suzi Gardipee, Lyla Doney, Jackie Young, Ginny Cochran, Mary Ellen Snell, Ronisne, Griete, Ilene St. Marks, and several others. Nephews’ Christopher “Smiley” Gardipee, Frisco Doney, Bobby Peak, Billie St. Marks, and several others. Great grandchildren Elias, Lynet, TJ, Janessa, Myanna, Remington, Elijah, and one great-great granddaughter Zara Rose. Friends at the care center Beatrice Pronto and Stephanie Earthboy, friends in Hays Gert Werk, and Flossie Fox.

Bunny was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elias, sons Raymond and Fudd, brothers James, Swede Snell, George “Bush” Snell, albert “Ally Boo” Snell, David Douglas, Randell “Chuckie” Snell, sisters Geraldine Doney, Barbara Gardipee, Daisy Linthicus, and Louis “Pedee” Snell, and several siblings that past away as babies, several nieces and nephews, friends, Elizabeth Doney, Tootise Hawley, Margie chandler, Mable Hawley, and Bernice Mount.
