Robert The Boy Sr.

Robert "Bobby" The Boy passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026,  in Havre MT, surrounded by the love of
his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, knowledge, and unwavering devotion to his
children, grandchildren, and family.
Robert was born October 28th, 1939 to Edna (Brown) and James The Boy. He was the grandson of The Boy (BHEAS) which was the last chief of the Gros Ventre Tribe. He was the oldest of 7 siblings. He was raised in Hays by his grandfather The Boy until the tragic death of his father in a mining accident in  1948. 
Robert relocated to Havre with his mother and siblings, beginning a journey that would shape the resilient and hardworking man he became. His strong work ethic started early. At just 13 years old, Robert began working at the Havre Stockyards. Throughout his life, he held numerous jobs before finding his place at Rocky Mountain Packing Company, where he worked as a butcher. During his time there he mastered the art of butchering and learned to make the well known Rocky Mountain Hot Dogs that many came to enjoy. Robert was a very proud Gros Ventre from Hays, but Havre was is home. 
After a brief marriage to Joanne Turcotte in 1958, he then met Eunice Larsen Horsecapture and together
they had 5 children Kino, Toni, Jr, Jaime, and Jaymes. Even though they separated they remained friends util
her death. 
Of all the jobs he held during his lifetime, the one he valued most was being a father and grandfather. His
children, grandchildren, and family were the center of his world. He took great pride in teaching them the
skills and traditions he loved. Whether it was hunting, fishing, butchering, sausage making, mechanics, fixing things around the house, or simply sharing practical knowledge. Robert passed his wisdom on to the next generation. He didn't just teach his own children and grandchildren—he shared his knowledge with any kid who was willing to learn.
Robert loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, or camping with family and friends.
He treasured taking his grandchildren on adventures and creating memories that would last a lifetime. A
few of the favorite memories were traveling with a van full of kids to pow wows, Glacier National Park,
Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore and Seattle. 
He was blessed to shoot his own buffalo in 2022.
He was known for being able to fix just about anything and believed in repairing things rather than
replacing them. He loved his collection of tools, cars, and countless treasures and knick-knacks that others
may have called junk but was treasure to him. 
He was a generous soul who would gladly give someone his last dollar if they needed it. His favorite color
was blue and he wasn't seen without his trademark blue button up shirt with the front pocket and suspenders. 
He was well known in the community for sitting on sidelines cheering his grandkids on at all the blue pony
sports events. Robert was respected and loved by many. To countless children, neighbors, friends, and family members,
he wasn't just Robert—he was "Grampa Bob." He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and
cared for.
He is survived by his children Toni, Jr., Jaime, Jaymes The Boy. His adopted children Rob, Jacob (Anna), Jaymes, Jaicee, Jude The Boy (Oaklee), Brandon The Boy (Maddy), grandchildren Clarissa The Boy (Michael Sangrey), Justin Wood (Lexi), Ty, Aleisha, Savanna, best friend Dorothy Cochran and all her children but especially her son Bart, great grandchildren Mykell, Bobby and Charli Sangrey, Jax, Emersyn, Jace, Jett The Boy, Kaylynn Hawley, Addison and Madelyn Page, Zion The Boy, Lane Harrison, Dante and Oaklynn Wood and baby girl due in September, brother Tony Man, sister Gretrude Werk, and Wilma Morsette. 
Proceeded in death- Grandfather The Boy, his parents, ex wife Eunice Horsecapture Larsen, siblings Vernon and William The Boy, Mary Temple, Marjorie, Lorraine and Loren.
