Raymond Quincy Obituary

Raymond Dale Quincy, 59 of Hays, Montana, made his journey on April 2, 2024 after a lengthy illness. Raymond was born to Patrick and Sharon (Jones) Quincy on January 7, 1965 at Havre, MT. He was an enrolled member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe who always considered himself blessed to be from Hays, Montana where he had numerous family and friends. He was given the nickname “Monsterman” at an early age. The whole town of Hays loved him and was sad to hear the news of his passing. He was a good-natured man who was always kind to others and full of humor and stories. Raymond attended elementary school in Hays and Havre, MT. He then attended St. Paul’s Mission junior high and Hays/Lodgepole High School. After Raymond finished school, he began wildland firefighting where he was able to work with his family and friends. Ray loved his firefighting days and was in great physical shape. He later went on to work for various ranches and worked on a gravel crushing operation with his cousin Justin Fox. Raymond enjoyed meeting people and could talk to just about anyone who would listen. Ol “Monsterman” had a gift for telling tall tales that kept everyone fascinated. Some of his stories were of places he’d never been but we all enjoyed hearing them. He was a talented man who was an expert on the guitar and could write and sing many songs. Ray also did many craftworks with leather and other forms of artwork. He was a master at fixing things and was a good mechanic. Raymond was always tinkering with something. The great outdoors was the one thing that he enjoyed the most. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, panning for gold and just cruising the hills or mountains while sipping a cold one. He believed that being outdoors brought him closer to God. It was his way of dealing with life's problems. He said that he would hunt and fish until he couldn't do it anymore. He lived up to this statement. Many friends would stop by for a visit because Ray was always good to visit. He was a good person who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He would get a little cranky every now and then, but this would never last long. He had a good heart would rather help or give whatever he had to those in need. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Pat and Sharon Quincy, sons Sean Matthew Doney, Trent Edwards and Styler Edwards. Raymond leaves behind his daughter Mary (Jason Ahenakew) Healy, grandchildren Emily Picotte, Albaro Picotte Jr., Mileena Yellowbird, Erica Ahenakew, Joann Ahenakew, Xander Ahenakew, Trent Edwards Jr., Son-in- law Payton After Buffalo, great grandson Malik After Buffalo, Aunt Carmelita Blackcrow of Hays, MT, all of Great Falls MT, ex-wife Mayme Jean Healy of Lodgepole MT.
