Obituary

Raymond Doney Sr. born April 2, 1937, passed away at the age of 86 at Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, MT on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Ray “Ramone” waws born in Browning, MT to John Diggen and Clara Doney (Plummer) He was 6th of 13 children. He attended grade school in Harlem through 8th grade.

At the age of 17, Raymond joined the United States Army where he was stationed at Carsen City, Nevada and later transferred to Germany where he spent the rest of his army career from March 28, 1956 to February 11, 1958.

He met the love of his life after returning to the states but their union would not take place until after his ventures to California and Seattle with his best friends Bobbie Bear, Bobby Gray, and Andy Doney.

Raymond married Mary Fox on August 28, 1961 and with this union they had two daughters and two sons. He decided “city life” was not for his family and ventured back home to Montana where he set up his roots in Dodson, MT. He built the D-D and started a band called the “Tum Water Boys” – Bill McEwen, Ray Neumiller, and the late Jimmie Allen, and George Kirkaldie. They traveled up and down the Hi-line in their “hurst” to play for various establishments.

His love for music was undying. He loved to entertain whomever, he also indulged in things such as pool, bowling, and of course art- his drawings are simply amazing!

He leaves behind two daughters Hope and Suzanne Doney, and son Ray Doney Jr., beloved granddaughter Melinda Sue, adopted kids Gerri and Brandon Cochran and family, and Delina Cutstherope/Fox and family.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Doney, son John Doney, special grandson Paul Doney, siblings Irene, Myra, Rita, brothers Paul, Leon, Swede, and Kenny, and parents John and Clara Doney.
