Myrna Kroon Obituary

Myrna Le Kroon passed away on June 3, 2021 of natural causes. She went to be with the Lord with family by her side. She was born November 11, 1937, the oldest daughter, to Wayne and Beatrice (McKown) Long in Malta, MT joining brother Deb. Myrna was a spunky child growing up in the Saco and Malta area, as well as Williston, ND. Her sister, Darlene and her double cousins, Carol, Lois, and Arlene, were all known as “The Long Girls”. Younger brother, Rick, and younger sister, Beth, later joined the family. She graduated from Malta High School in 1957. She married her high school sweetheart, Rodney Lee Kroon, on December 26, 1958.

After getting married, Myrna worked as a telephone operator in Malta, except while briefly in Seattle, until it went dial in 1965. They moved to Seattle where Rodney was building houses with his father, in 1961-62, in preparation for the world fair. Myrna insisted to return to Malta for the birth of their daughter, so that her aunt, nurse Belva Long, could be present for the arrival of their baby girl. On May 16, 1962, they welcomed their first and only child, Rhonda Lee. They moved to the ranch and she was a ranch wife the rest of her life.

Myrna was an active member at Malta Community Church. For nearly 50 years, she led the Sunday school opening songs and program for the primary department. Children’s ministry was her heart. Also with husband, Rodney, they ran the preschool Cubbies program for 21 years. For years to follow when seen in public, children referred to her as “Cubby”. She was also an active member of the church choir and was a diligent prayer chain starter.

Family was especially important to Myrna. She was a dedicated caregiver, tending to many elderly family members as well as grandkids and great grandkids. She will always be remembered for her loyalty. If you ever needed someone on your side, Myrna was the one to have.

Myrna was proceeded in death by her husband, Rodney, parents, Wayne and Beatrice Long, sister Darlene (Long) Olmstead, and father and mother-in-law, LeRoy and Verna Kroon.

She is survived by her daughter Rhonda (Allan) DeVries, grandson and neighbors Aaron (Angel) DeVries, granddaughter Carmen (Wes) Salveson, grandson Evan DeVries, her pride and joy great grandkids Lucy Bea, Nellie Ruth, and Dotty Lee Salveson, Tessa Lee, Orrin Richard, and Nash Allan DeVries. Brother Deb (Mary Lois) Long of Great Falls, MT, brother Rick (Cindy) Long of Annandale, MN, and sister Beth (Bill) Goertz of Billings, MT. She is also survived by numerous friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved church family.
