Mark Duvall Obituary

Long time Malta resident and proud Landusky native, Mark Duane Duvall, passed away peacefully and with great courage Sunday August 22nd, 2021 after 80 years of sharing his love and kindness with loved ones and those fortunate enough to have known him.

Mark was born June 28th, 1941 to Ted and Peg (Wright) Duvall. He was a beloved brother and shared a great bond with six siblings, Charles (Ace) Duvall (Arv); Ree Ragsdale (Bob); Winnie French (George); Eva Duvall, Margaret (Honey) Rasmussen (Gopher) and Faye Helm (Don).

He is survived by three of four children: Valorie Duvall (Roy) of Lincoln MT; Duane Duvall (Trish) of Tacoma WA and Brandi Duvall (Lee) of Tacoma WA. He is preceded in death by his eldest son Evert Duvall of Malta MT, sister Eva Duvall of Landusky MT, brother Ace Duvall of Elma WA, and sister Honey Rasmussen of Malta MT, all of whom he is now reunited with.

Mark cherished his seven grandchildren Ciyarra, Michael, Jasmyn, Rieley, Logan, Rainier and Leo. He had great pride in the Duvall heritage and valued that the name’s sake will be passed on through his cousin Sam, nephew John, and surviving son Duane Duvall.

Mark, generous to a fault, spent his life doing things for others, including serving in the Army where he was a successful competitive boxer. Mark enjoyed many hobbies, including rodeo, reading western novels, especially those by louis L’amour and hunting. He was something of a pool shark and could easily bowl a near perfect score with a mean left hook. He was Proud to have worked on the Alaskan Pipeline and a skilled mechanic, retiring from International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302.

Fewer things brought him more joy than his relentless and superior ability to play practical jokes. Many close friends and family knew Mark long enough to expect a smart quick-witted reply or a simple, yet clever trick up his sleeve. Mark’s intelligence and sense of humor made for good conversation with just about anybody. He preferred simplicity, loved Montana, chose peace above conflict and valued family unity above all else. To name each person Mark loved and those who loved him would be as endless as the list of people who will miss him.

A service in his honor will be held in Landusky Montana; Saturday September 4th, 2021 at 3:30pm.
