Maria (Abrahamson) Anderson Obituary

Maria Patricia (Abrahamson) Anderson, 51, of Malta, Montana, passed away April 3, 2026, at the Billings Clinic Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Maria was born on November 18, 1974, in Butte, Montana, to William “Bill” Abrahamson and Margaret Anne Moore. She graduated from Malta High School (class of 1993) and went on to pursue higher education in healthcare. Maria earned an Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies from MSU–Great Falls College of Technology, and completed additional coursework toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the School of Nursing at Montana State University. She also earned a degree in Pharmacy Technology through the University of Montana College of Technology.

Maria dedicated her life to caring for others through her work in healthcare. She most recently served as a Registered Nurse at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, Montana. She previously worked as a Registered Nurse at Phillips County Hospital and Family Health Clinic, as well as at Benefis Health System in Great Falls. Earlier in her career, Maria worked many years as a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Benefis Health System and Spectrum Home Solutions.

Maria was married to Pat Anderson in 2004. Though they later divorced, they remained friends.

Maria enjoyed arts and crafts and had a love for reading, learning, and traveling. She cherished time spent with family, friends, and her beloved pets, especially her cat Libby, who held a special place in her heart. She was known for her optimism, strong faith, and caring spirit. Maria will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and unwavering positivity despite life’s many challenges.

She is survived by her father, William “Bill” Abrahamson; her former husband, Pat Anderson; her uncle, George Moore; many cousins; and many lifelong friends who became like family to her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Anne Moore; her maternal grandparents, Ethel (Owen) Moore and Oscar Moore; and her paternal grandparents, John Abrahamson and Ivernia (Cookingham) Abrahamson Lindale, as well as her step-grandfather, Jim Lindale, and many beloved aunts and uncles

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, at Wilderness Funeral Home in Malta. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, at Wilderness Funeral Home in Malta, with Pastor Joe Haney officiating. Burial will follow at Malta Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Grace Fellowship Church. Maria grew up attending Elim Lutheran Church and remained strong in her faith throughout her life.

Memorials may be made in Maria’s honor to an animal shelter of the donor’s choosing, the Phillips County Healthcare Foundation, or the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital Foundation.
