Linda Brown Obituary

Linda Lou Brown, 73 passed away in her home on November 22, 2020 as a result of cancer. Linda was born on July 9, 1947 in Malta, MT to Jim and Ethel O’Brien.

She was raised and attended school in Malta spending much of her childhood on her Mother and adoptive Father Harold Schmoeckel’s farm. Linda loved being outside tending to sheep, her flower beds, and garden. She lived in Malta and Lewistown where she worked at Albertsons and Buttreys, commuting to Harlem for years where she was the produce manager. She also lived in Zurich where she farmed, ranched, and owned the Spa Bar.

Linda married William Bruce Brown on June 22, 1964. They had two sons and remained married until Bruce’s death February 6, 1978. She was involved with the Ladies Auxiliary for years and served as President. She enjoyed the public and teasing those who became friends, trying to get a laugh whenever she could. Her grandchildren were the most important part of her life and she made holidays and birthdays a very special event for them.

She is preceded in death by her father Jim O’Brien, mother Ethel and step-father Harold Schmoeckel, husband Bruce Brown, and long time friend Doug Anderson.

She is survived by her sons Charlie of Helena and Luke (Carol) of Malta, sister Shirley (Marvin) Jones, brother Vince (Carolyn) Schmoeckel, sister-in-law Terry (Pete) Skones all of Malta, and the loves of her life, granddaughter Maria (Dillion) Wentz of Malta, and Connor Brown of Helena.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions a service will be held at a later date.
