Leo "Marshall" Kline, 8o, of Malta, Montana, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on April 17, 2026.
Marshall was born on January 7, 1946 in Malta, MT, to Joseph and Edna Kline. He attended Malta High School, where he gained recognition as a talented basketball player. After high school, he joined the Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. Following his service, he married Judy Schumacher, with whom he had a son, Jarrid. Later, he married Patricia Minugh, and they had two daughters, Lakota and Stacie.
During this time, he worked for BNSF Railroad for well over 25 years and was an active member in the VFW, where he served as post commander for a period of time. Marshall was well-known for his singing and guitar playing, as well as his passion for hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his children: Jarrid Kline (Aria), Lakota Sechler (Jason), and Stacie Simanton (Kris); his grandchildren: Chevton, Josiah, Ashlyn, Jaiden, Nora, Adam, Owen, Luke, and Tessa; along with numerous cousins and extended family.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edna; his sister, Billie Jean; and his brothers, Clarence and Benjamin.
A graveside memorial service will be held on May 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Malta Cemetery, with a gathering at the VFW to follow.
