Laynee Laceen was born on May 17, 2005 to Reece Ophus and Carla Gilman in Havre, MT. Laynee spent her early childhood in Big Sandy. Spending most of her time outdoors, Laynee’s genuine and selfless love for animals truly began, including her favorite horse, Flicka, her beloved “Lucky Dog”, and most recently her adored kitten, Sticks.

Into her early teenage years, Laynee spent much of her time at the city pool, which eventually lead to her competing on the Big Sandy Barracuda swim team. This competitive nature and fighting spirit then lead her to compete in track & field, basketball, and volleyball as a Big Sandy Pioneer and later as a Malta Mette.

Her fighting spirit didn’t end at being athletic. Laynee was an extremely gifted individual. She could sing, dance, draw, you name it. If she set her mind to it, she was going to do it, and do it well.

Laynee was known for her bright and bubbly presence. Her ability to make people laugh and smile, brought her great happiness which you could see by her often present smirk and her big, beautiful smile that could light up any room.

Laynee is proceeded in death by her Aunt Laceen Ophus, and Grandparents Lois & Curtis (Coke) Moe.

She is survived by her Father, Reece Ophus of Big Sandy, Mother, Carla Gilman of Malta, Sisters, Paighton (Taylor) of Kremlin, Kaylie (Elsie) of Malta, Loni of Malta, Grandparents Lyle & Barb Ophus of Big Sandy, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, extended family, and countless friends.
