Laurel Lee Porte, age 67, of Libby, Montana, passed away on December 16, 2024, after a courageous battle with lymphoma surrounded by her family at the Sweet Home Nursing Home in Chinook, Montana. Laurel was born in Libby, Montana, on March 20, 1957, to Les and Norita Skramstad.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arne (Tom) Appleby (1949-1990); she shared a deep bond with her husband, David Frederick Porte, the love of her life. They created cherished memories together for twelve incredible years. Their time together was filled with laughter, love, and a profound connection that enriched their lives. Sadly, their journey together came to an end with his passing in 2002.
She was also preceded by her father, Les Skramstad, and her brother, Brent Skramstad. Laurel is survived by her mother, Norita Skramstad; her son, Morgan, and his wife, Jasmin; her daughters, Amanda, Rosie (Mike), Norita (Mike), Elizabeth; and her son, John. She is also survived by her siblings, Gayla, Brady, and Sloan (Martin), as well as her aunts and uncles: Wayne (Babe), Myrna (Lyle), Diane (Will), and Phylis (Ray). Laurel's grandchildren include Trei, Aurora, Kaden, Abbigail, Brooke, Aeris, Izabella, Jayce, Gerard, Christopher, Noah, Ian, and Leia. Additionally, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, her sister-in-law Julie, and cherished friends, including Merri, Barbara, and her pool "kids."
Laurel was a dedicated fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed Lays potato chips. She will be remembered for her love of the community and her willingness to lend a helping hand whenever possible. In her spare time, Laurel enjoyed playing pool as a proud APA member.
