HAVRE- Larry Frederick Wynia, 67, was born in Havre to Charles F. Wynia (Deceased) and Violet Mae (Olson) Wynia (Deceased) in Havre, Montana on May 3, 1957. He passed away from complications following a stroke on February 20, 2025. Larry requested his remains be cremated.
Larry attended Havre Public Schools, graduating in 1975. He met his side-kick Barbara Lee (Daniel) Henry shortly after. Together they moved to Chinook where he worked for Blaine County Bridge Dept. in 1978. He moved to the position of Bridge Foreman in 1980. Larry was instrumental in bringing in the Teamster Union to Blaine County and was shop steward for the road and bridge department for 8 years. Larry also served as a member of the wage committee and safety board. Larry and Barbara resided in Chinook for 20 years before moving back to Havre in 2000. Barbara preceded Larry in passing on April 17, 2018, with him at her side.
His interests included coin collecting and fishing. Larry enjoyed mechanical work and gardening in his free time. Larry always looked for the good in others, helping those in need. He was a lover of animals which were naturally drawn to him. He was a big man with an even bigger heart and will be missed by those that knew and loved him.
Larry has one surviving stepson, Charles John Henry Jr. of Havre, MT, and three siblings: Thomas E. Wynia, Dee Ann Williams, and Richard L. Wynia. He leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by Uncle Thomas H., Uncle Robert E. Wynia of, Aunt Winona, Aunt Betty Smallwood, and Uncle Warren.
Services are scheduled for May 3, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Highland Cemetery in Havre, and a celebration of his life will follow at The Q Events. Donations can be made to North Central Senior Citizens Center at 2 2nd Street, West Havre, MT 59501, or a charity of your choice.
