Larry McGuire

Larry McGuire, 76, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at Phillips County Hospital.

Larry was born on August 17, 1949, in Havre, Montana, to Beth and Bunny McGuire. He was raised in Harlem, Montana, where he graduated from Harlem High School in 1967.

Following high school, Larry attended the University of Montana and Montana State University, studying Physical Therapy before beginning a career in Montana's oil fields. His work would take him across the world and lead him to the greatest adventure of his life.

In 1972, Larry moved to Beirut, Lebanon, while working in the Saudi Arabian oil fields. It was there, in 1975, that he met the love of his life, Sue. He was always proud to tell people that he had married "the boss's daughter." As conflict erupted in the region, they evacuated to Athens, Greece, where they were married on May 7, 1976.

Together they built a life filled with adventure, family, and unwavering love. They welcomed their first son, Mark, in 1977 before moving to Southeast Asia in 1979. Their second son, Jay, was born there, followed by a brief return to the United States. In 1986, the family moved back to Southeast Asia, where they welcomed their daughter, Mandi in 1990. In 1993, the family settled in Lewistown, Montana, where they made their home for the next 26 years.

Larry continued his career in the oil industry, eventually working in the Bakken oil fields until his retirement in 2015. Retirement allowed Larry and Sue to enjoy the best of two worlds. They spent their winters in Lake Havasu, Arizona, where they formed many lasting friendships, and their summers in Malta, Montana, where they cherished every opportunity to spend time with their grandchildren.

Larry's life was defined by hard work, resilience, and a willingness to embrace new adventures. From Montana to the Middle East and Southeast Asia, he built a remarkable life centered on his love for his family and God. He will be remembered for his stories, his sense of humor, his adventurous spirit, and the deep pride he took in his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sue McGuire; his son, Mark McGuire and his wife, Shelley; his son, Jay McGuire; and his daughter, Mandi Webb and her husband, Lance. He is also survived by his twin brother, Garry McGuire and his wife, Sissy; his sister, Candy Kalal and her husband, John; his cherished grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon), Carson, Jessa, Bryndle, Dashal, and Blakelee; and his great-grandson, Iver. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents Beth and Bunny McGuire, his sister Terri Gilbert, and his sister Connie Fetter.

Funeral Services will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Harlem on Saturday July 18th, 2026 at 2pm. Graveside service and reception to follow.
