Kevin Walker Obituary

Kevin Jay Walker, a beloved resident of Hays, Montana, passed away on November 7th, 2024, at the home of his oldest son and daughter-in-law. He was 62 years old. A visitation for family members will be held on November 12th, 2024, at Wilderness Funeral Home in Chinook from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The spreading of his ashes will take place at a later date, yet to be determined. As a proud member of the Gros Ventre Tribe of the Fort Belknap Reservation, the family hopes to honor Mr. Walker's memory with a traditional Native American ceremony at a future Pow Wow. Kevin Jay Walker was born on Father's Day, June 17, 1962, in Aberdeen, Washington, to Henry John Walker and Lillian Alice Walker. He spent his childhood in Hoquiam, Washington, where he attended school. Over the years, he lived in Washington, Utah, and Montana, but it was in Montana where he met Nona Shortman, with whom he married and had two sons. Mr. Walker worked in various industries, including shake mills and construction, but his true passion and talent was in commercial and residential painting. His skill in this trade led him to foreman positions on numerous construction projects, where he excelled. Kevin Walker inherited his father's mischievous sense of humor and was known for bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. He had a special relationship with his mother, calling her every week without fail. Though health issues forced him into retirement, Mr. Walker cherished the extra time he could spend with his family. His sons and grandchildren were always his greatest pride and joy. Kevin Jay Walker is survived by his two sons, Kevin William Walker and his wife Katarina of Havre, MT,; and Jesse Walker of Havre, MT; his grandchildren Everleigh and Mason; his mother, Lillian Walker; his brother Frank (Diane) Walker; his sisters Carri (Brian) VandeRee and Jodi (Wm. Vestal) Yarbrough. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Walker, and his brother, John Walker. His warmth, humor, and devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
