Jeannie Marie (Peterson) Powell passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 17th, 2021 from complications with cancer. She was born September 16, 1963 in Billings MT to Donald and Helen Peterson.

Jeannie attended Billings Public Schools K-12. It was there she developed a love for playing music, she was a very gifted and talented musician. During high school, she played the cello for Billings West High School orchestra. She also taught herself how to play the banjo during this time. Later in life, Jeannie decided to play the stand up bass where she joined “The Stone Broke String Band”. She truly loved music and she loved her band.

Jeannie also loved to garden, her yard was chocked full of flowers and vegetables of all kinds and she would spend countless hours in it making sure it was just right. She truly had a green thumb, if she planted it, it grew.

Jeannie graduated from Billings West High School in the spring of 1981, she would soon meet and marry Don Parsons. From that union, three sons were born, Ben, Clayton, and Kristofer, the couple eventually divorced.

Jeannie then packed up the three little boys and moved to the Bear Paws and worked as a cook/ranch hand. It was there that she met her future husband Zane. They were married on May 22nd, 1993 and the wedding took place in the hay loft at the Mitchell Ranches big red barn.

Of this union, two sons were born, Owen Jacob and Karson Levi. Together, Zane and Jeannie raised their 5 boys on their valley place near Zurich, MT.

Jeannie had several jobs after she and Zane got married, she worked as a secretary for Columbia Grain in Harlem, MT for eight years, then moved on to be the receptionist/secretary at Chinook Dental where she remained until April 2021. She also had a home based business called “Cow Creek Soaps” that flourished, all of which was hand crafted and created in her kitchen.

Jeannie is survived by her husband Zane of 28 years, son Ben Parsons and grandsons Parker and Tanner, Son Clayton Parsons, Son Kristofer Parsons and Granddaughters Kiley and Kinsley, Son Karson Powell and Daughter in Law to be Sarah Lammers.
