Jacob Daniel Hellyer

Malta resident, Jacob Daniel Hellyer, 32, passed away December 12, 2024 at home. Jake was born May 6, 1992 in Missoula, MT, to Daniel and Brenda Hellyer. He graduated from Billings West High School in 2010 where he was named “student of the year” his freshman year by faculty, won a State AA Boys Basketball Title his sophomore year, nominated as one of West High’s Mr. Irresistible, placed 2nd at State AA Boys Basketball senior year. He was invited to play in the Senior Classic in Billings, MT, the HIT Tourney in Havre, MT, and the Montana-Wyoming Basketball games. He received several scholarships including the Rotary Club Scholarship in Billings which he was very proud of. Jake attended the University of Montana 2010-2015 for a pre-pharmacy degree. While there Jake was involved in Student Affairs and became a team leader, UM Ambassador, joined Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia-Delta Theta Chapter, Resident Assistant, and earned his Pharmacy Technician license. On August 13, 2018 he met the love of his life, his partner, Kaitlyn Kirby, who he shared two beautiful children with, Jeanne Hellyer and William Johnson. Jake enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, playing and watching basketball especially his cousin, cheering on his nephew during his soccer matches, and always spending time with his brother, children and extended family. Jake’s family wrote, “Jake’s big heart, never-ending smile and love for others will always be remembered. He was an inspiration to us all, to always be yourself and embrace your uniqueness.”

He is survived by his partner, Kaitlyn Kirby, two children Jeanne Hellyer and William Johnson, of Billings, his parents Daniel and Brenda Hellyer, Malta, brother Nathan Hellyer, Malta, grandparents Gary and Donna Young, Malta, uncle James Brant (Lydia) Young, Billings, aunt Beth (Jerry) Welch, Malta, cousins Christian (Addy) Young Wine, Billings, Isabella Young Brooks, West Richland, WA, Montana Young Wine, Tony Lanter, Mylee Antoni, Billings, Amira Antoni Arner, St George, UT, Ostin Welch and Zach Welch, Bozeman, MT, Hailey Welch and Kash Welch, Malta, aunt and uncle Bob and MaryLou Young, Malta, Michelle (Kevin) Mitchell, Landusky, MT, Megan (Kevin) Doney, Malta, Vanessa (Jared) Malmend, Malta, Sam Mitchell, Billings, Heath Young, Malta, Jasper Young, Colorado Springs, CO, Jordan Young, Castroville, TX, Seth (Rheanna) Young, Malta, great aunt and uncle Lloyd and Earline Knudsen, Malta, and many, many more aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to name as well as friends.
