Isabelle Florence "Darlene" Perry, 78, passed away at St. Vincent Healthcare, Billings on June 19, 2026, from natural causes.
Darlene was born February 9, 1948, in Killarney, Manitoba, Canada to William James and Gladys (Charles) McKenzie. She graduated high school and attended business college where she achieved her degree.
Darlene met the love of her life Gene Perry in North Dakota and the two were married on May 17, 1969. Soon after they moved to California, where she worked for American Van Lines and welcomed Troy to their family. When Troy was 3 months old, they ventured to Glendive and then on to Malta, where Gene and Darlene started their first business Standard Oil and the Perry Trailer Court, just East of Malta on Highway #2. Tracy was born 3 years later to complete their family. That same year, 21 Construction was created where she became the bookkeeper/secretary, a job she held and excelled at until her partial retirement in 2015. Darlene was on many committees and organizations in Malta throughout her life, but room mother was her favorite.
She supplied Jello Jigglers to not only Troy and Tracy's classrooms but all the grandkids as well. She loved being in her yard working in the flower bed and puttering around, but her favorite was mowing. She took great pride in keeping her acres of lawn perfect! She will be remembered as the spunky, honest speaking lady, who enjoyed life.
She is survived by her two children Troy (Carrie) Perry, Tracy (Travis) Malmend.
Grandchildren, Jade Malmend, Jared (Vanessa) Malmend, Janessa Malmend, Colette Perry, Serena Stine, Travis Dovre and Trenton Dovre. Great-grandchildren, Jettlynn Malmend, Adaline Malmend and a baby girl on-the-way. Brothers Bruce McKenzie and Glenn McKenzie. Sister, Gaylene McKenzie.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Gene Perry, special niece Lynette Cary, parents William James McKenzie and Gladys (Charles) McKenzie.
At Darlene's request, no formal funeral or memorial services will be held.
