Henry Brockie Obituary

Henry "Mickey" Brockie carried the Aanilih name Ehate "Heavy" named after his grandpa Clarence Brockie was born to Henry "Prince" and Ruby Horseman Brockie on August 17, 1951. Mickey passed away the morning of July 1, 2024, due to an automobile accident. He was born at Fort Belknap Agency and his parents were living at the foothills of Curly Head Canyon. Old Brockie place. Mickey was the second child of ten children. In 1954 during the relocation era, Mr. and Mrs. Brockie with their children, Clarena, Mickey and Stormy moved to Los Angles where they lived until the recession when Henry lost his job. They moved back to Montana and various places before settling at their home place in old Hays. Mickey attended Harlem Highschool and excelled in sports. A great basketball player but even better at track. He broke the 1-mile distance and held that record for many years. He was involved in high school rodeo and spent a lot of time at Bud Campbell's ranch practicing with Skinny and other friends. He continued his education at Northern Montana College. He was a smoke jumper in the Wanachie Forrest in Washington. He decided to further his education at Haskell Junior College. There he met the love of his life Dixie Little. A beautiful red-haired girl traveled home with him. The first thing was she got a pair of boots and fit right in. He started ranching and roping. He built a big arena where roping's were held often. Getting the travel bug, they decided to move to Oklahoma. Sold his cows and went south along with their two boys, Ted and Mecv. They lived and worked in Oklahoma. Wanting to further themselves they decided to return to Haskell Junior College. The best move. They both graduated and Mickey was selected Valedictorian. He was involved in other areas on campus and well liked. He was chosen to be the Keynote speaker at graduation. Both of his parents were able to attend. Mickey had always been an intelligent person. At graduation he talked about how a man on a trail sat down and soon grass grew around him and he didn't know his way. He said that was life. If we don't move forward that's what happens. They moved to Billings, Montana and began his long career with Indian Health Service. They bought a beautiful home in the country outside of Lockwood. He spent his years involved with his sons' sports, Hockey, baseball, basketball. While in Billings they had an additional family member, Hank Brockie. Later years they moved home to old Hays. The old "Long Gun* place. He had a beautiful yard and garden. He continued his career and later retired from IHS. Working in several jobs even after retiring. Determined to improve himself "not letting the grass grow around him" he decided to attend ANC. After his parents passed in 2019 Mick and Dixie moved back to Oklahoma, a warmer place and no more shoveling snow. Mickey spent many years involved with youth basketball taking his teams all over the Northwest, bringing home many trophies. One of the highlights of his coaching career was the Hays Lodgepole 2007 Class C State Basketball Championship in which he was assistant coach to his nephew Charlie Ereaux. Mick was also an avid hunter hunting with his sons, sister Lorraine, Leonard nephews and great nephews. He doted on his grandchildren they were the loves of his life. Oh, the hunting stories he would tell. He spent a lot of time with his lifelong friend Warren Bell. They roped together and enjoyed each other's company. Warren when trucking would stop by and visit Mickey and Dixie in Oklahoma. The stories they could tell especially when they got in trouble with Dixie. He had great memories of living in Hays by the Main's, and Cole's and hanging out with his friend Harold "Jiggs" Main. Mickey is preceded by his son Theodore "Ted" Brockie, grandsons Jonathan Tillman and Thane Helgeson, parents Henry and Ruby Brockie, grandparents Clarence and Mary Brockie and In-laws Mitchell and Wanda Little. Mick leaves behind his wife Dixie, sons Jason Little, Mitchell "Mecv," Henry "Hank" Brockie, Jr.. grandchildren, Gracie, Mitaylee, Jalen, Kobe, James, Kendall, Dakota, Dallas, Dayton, Henry IlI, Warren and 8 great grandchildren Easton, Graysson, Holland, Atticus, James Jr, Jay Jay, Mike & Paul. brother George "Stormy" Brockie, sisters. Apologies if we have forgotten anyone in our time of grieving, it was not intentional.
