Honorable Corporal, George James Ball, "Monte" (Hunga Anazh - Standing Chief - Assiniboine) was born to Robert Ball Sr and Alice Pond Ball, and was the favored grandchild of Lame Chicken, who is laid to rest at the Pink Church. He grew up in Fort Belknap and resided and worked on the family ranch down The Valley. He was a cowboy who enjoyed telling his many stories of riding horseback, from down The Valley to Lodgepole and all over. He would chuckle at his many adventures in Harlem and the surrounding areas. He enlisted in the United States Army in November of 1951 and departed from Hawaii to join the troops during the Korean War, he was a Radio Operator in the Signal Corps and in 1953 was honorably discharged to the Army Reserve in Fort Lewis, Washington. He worked with the Roads Department during his professional career and had many stories about every road in Fort Belknap. He reveled in watching road construction on his travels and had a very skilled eye in that department. He enjoyed reading books, magazines and newspapers and treasured his right to vote and stayed current on all politics and current events. He was a library of knowledge and had many stories to tell. He married the late Margaret Blackbird Ball, December of 1973 and resided many years on Ocean Hill with her until her passing. He was a highly intelligent, reserved man who did not like much attention, and was honored to donate his DNA when contacted by the United States Casualty Department, in efforts for the repatriation of Corporal Charles Ball, who is still Missing In Action from the Philippines. He was preceded in passing by his parents and his siblings, Karen, Bill, Thomas, Carla, Curtis and Gordon, and is survived by his loving siblings Yvonne Ball Bigby, Frank Ball, and Robert Ball. Even though he didn't have children of his own he loved his many loving nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
The procession will leave Wilderness Funeral Homes- Chinook on Sunday 26th, at 1:00pm.
