Gary Stewart Olszewski

Gary Olszewski, sixty-five, of Hogeland, MT, passed away on December 30, 2022, after suffering a severe stroke.  He was surrounded by friends and family.

On April 1, 1957, Gary was born in Great Falls, MT.  Gary grew up in Hogeland, MT with Sister Mary Lou and Brother Pat. Years later his sister Teddi Ann joined the family. After graduating from Turner High School in 1975, Gary continued farming the family farm for the remainder of his life.  In 1978, he contracted with USPS and ran the rural mail route for approximately twenty-five years.

Gary was a warm-hearted man with a love for animals and children, a “one-of-a-kind” sense of humor, an unbreakable loyalty to friends, and an empathy for the lonely.  It wasn’t unusual to find Gary spending hours with the ill/elderly, nursing an injured bird back to health, or mentoring a future-farmer youth.  Uncle Gary specialized in providing his nephews, nieces, and baby sister with adventurous, fun-filled experiences and the very BEST Christmas presents (which no parent could match)!

An avid hunter and sharp-shooter, Gary enjoyed many elk hunting and back-packing trips.  He loved to attend trap shoots and often brought home the grand prize.  With a love for history and knowledge, Gary devoured a multitude of historical books throughout the years.

He is survived and missed by his mother, Mary Ann Olszewski of Great Falls, MT; and his siblings, Mary Lou Olszewski of Witchita, KS, Pat Olszewski (Brenda) of Lethbridge, AB, Canada, and Teddi Olszewski (Jeff Bankman) of Northampton, MA. He is forever cherished and remembered by numerous nephews, nieces, and great-nephews.  His loyal companion and dog, Max, wishes he would come home. Gary was predeceased by his father, Ted Olszewski.

Services will be held at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Hogeland, MT on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00am.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Benefis Peace Hospice.  Donations can be made through the secure link at www.benefisfoundation.org.
