Francene Brockie “Eight Ball”, 78, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024. Wake services will begin on Sunday, November 10, 2024, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Enemy Killer Center (Chief Nosey) in Lodgepole, Montana. Francene’s funeral service will be on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. also at the Enemy Killer Center. Burial will follow at the Big Warm cemetery. Wilderness Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Francene was born to Theresa Brisbo and Adam Flying, on October 31, 1946. She grew up in Big Warm and was raised by her grandma, Annie Brisbo. She was very close to her relatives and enjoyed spending time with them. She attended school in Lodgepole and Hays and went to highschool at Flandreau Indian School where she graduated. She later moved to Havre where she went to college for nursing and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Being a nurse was her passion and she loved her job very much. She worked at the Northern Montana Hospital and Northern Montana Care Center until she retired. She also worked in Billings at Parkview. She was married to Eddie Brockie and although they separated they remained as close friends.
Francene enjoyed camping at powwows, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Every summer she made a trip back to Big Warm to have barbecues, go swimming and sit by the campfire listening to her old country tunes and drinking Coors Light. She also liked kicking up her heels at the Eagles. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren as well as her great grandchildren and loved spending time with them and teaching them how to cook and play her favorite card game rummy.
Francene was preceded in death by her parents Theresa Brisbo and Adam Flying, grandma Annie Brisbo, brothers Sonny Man Flying, Richard Brisbo, Jeff “Buzzy” Azure, and Joe Azure.
She is survived by her children Sheldon Flying of Havre, Shelly Sanchez of Havre, Bobby Brockie of Billings, and Dolores “Sissy” (Aaron Martin) of Billings, and Heidi Weydahl of Washington. Her grandchildren Shane O’Flynn of Seattle, Bobbi Flying “Peekaboo” (Eric Stiffarm) of Billings, Christina “Daisy” Sanchez of Billings, Virginia “Ginger” Sanchez of Billings, Joaquin Sanchez of Billings, Daniel Sanchez of Havre, Bryant Jones of Billings, Ethan Martin, Kaitlyn Martin, and Rainee Martin of Billings, Natasha Lohman of Havre, Chelsea Lohman of Havre, Lacey Flying of Hays, Jaylon Flying of Arizona. She is also survived by her sisters Caroline Crazy Boy, Audrey “Tammy” Clayborn, and Elaine Healy-Valdez “Mrs. Berger” all of Havre. Great grandchildren Ashton, Braxton, Picabo, Alejandra of Billings, Dallas, Darren jr, Layla, Aaliyah, Tristan, Cordell, Kasi of Havre, and Ophelia of Billings.
