Edgar Davis Obituary

A Life of Faith, Music, and Quiet Strength

Born in Billings, Montana, he lived a life shaped by music, hard work, and a deep, unwavering walk with the Lord. His faith became the center of his life in his 40s, and from that moment on he grew into a kinder, steadier, more generous man — one who loved deeply and forgave easily.

Ed often told stories of his rambunctious youth, and he shared with his son the stories of his service. He encouraged him — and many others — to embrace the Lord in all His glory.

He spent many years playing music on the road, sharing stages and friendships with “Thumbs” Carlyle, Chuck Cardenas, and many others. Along the way he also had the opportunity to play with Colin Raye and even stand on Toby Keith’s bandstand — moments he never bragged about, but quietly treasured as blessings God placed in his path.

He claimed Isaiah 54:17 as his own, repeating the promise that no weapon formed against him would prosper. It was the verse he stood on, the one that steadied him through every storm.

He treasured his family above all else. He is survived by his wife Malinda Sue Davis, his children Daryl and Chaumerie Dawn (estranged), his granddaughters Zoey Elizabeth and Eliza Chloe, one granddaughter on the way, his sister Jean Edsall, his niece Cindy Aldridge, and many extended family members and friends whose lives he touched.

His passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his music, his stories, and the faith he lived by will continue through the people who loved him. He loved to tell people that music is the universal language, and he passed down this advice to his son — words he lived by:

“When you’re hurting, give it to God. Then, put it into that guitar.”

Rest easy, old man. See you tomorrow
