Dolores "Dee" (Love) Brandon Obituary

Our dear mother, Dolores Frances Love Brandon, went to our Heavenly Father peacefully, surrounded by her family, on March 7, 2023. Dolores was born August 4, 1937, in Billings, Montana, to Elton and Dolores Love. She was later raised by her mother and stepfather, Ritz Sloulin, in Havre. Dolores graduated from Havre High School in 1957 and later graduated from Northern Montana College with a degree in Education and a minor in Art and Reading Specialist. She was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone Company as a supervisor when she met and married her husband, Jack Brandon. He was the love of her life during their 64-year marriage.

Her faith in God was the center of her life. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a leader in several organizations through the years including genealogy consultant, youth and children’s leader.

Dolores had many talents, including sewing, camping, cooking, crocheting, art, music, and family history, which she had researched back many generations. She and her husband enjoyed their time together, singing and picnicking at their cabin. She also sang with the Wild Rose Harmonizers group for many years.

Her family remembers her as a patient, loving, and kind mother and wife who always saw the positive side of life. She took stressful situations in stride. Her young children once volunteered her baking skills for a charity auction and only told her a short time before the event. Without complaint, she got busy and baked and frosted two cakes from scratch. She then used food coloring to paint beautiful, colorful scenes on each cake. That evening the cakes brought the highest dollar at the auction.

She influenced her family to laugh at themselves and find joy in life. When disagreements arose, she displayed her original drawings in a cartoon parody she had strategically displayed on the refrigerator.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dolores and Ritz Sloulin, son Stuart Brandon, and brother Ronald Love.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Jack Brandon of Havre, brother Gilbert Love of Gilroy, CA; daughters: Pamela Talbot (Richard) of Havre, MT, Jenny Friede (Shawn) of Havre, MT, and sons: Randall Brandon (Rondalene) of Logandale, NV, Jon Brandon (Rachel) of Tacoma, WA; and Claude Hamilton of Evanston, WY; sixteen grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren. And her precious cat, Peeper.
