Debi (Kuhr) Whitaker

Debi (Kuhr) Whitaker, 66, of Saco, Montana, died of complications with heart failure on April 30, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 11, 1959, in San Diego, CA, the oldest of four girls. She went to high school in Malta where she later received her GED.

Debi married Robert Scheffelmaer where Ray joined them and later divorced.

Debi, Jenny and Ray moved to Malta where she had numerous jobs and one in which she met Wes in 1993. They mixed their families and started off together.

Debi was an excellent cook and loved to bake. She was a big collector of Campbells, blue plates and red enamel. Debi always decorated for the season and holidays, with her favorite being Halloween where she gave out her famous popcorn balls.

Debi will truly be missed. She was preceded in death by her mother Marilyn and sister Teri.

Survivors include her husband Wes; children Jenny Kuhr of Kalispell, Ray (Tara) Scheffelmaer of Mead, CO, Travis (Brittny) Whitaker of Billings, Martin (Kristi) Whitaker of Helena; grandchildren Brenna and Shelby Scheffelmaer, Jaxton, Jace and Kimber Whitaker, Kyler Whitaker, who were most special to her; sisters Gracie (Lance) Beto, Tami Kuhr; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later time. Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted with Wilderness Funeral Homes.
