David Messerly Obituary

David Lynn Messerly – “Dave Holmes”, was born April 17th, 1960, to Diane “PeeWee” Healy and Clarence “Chips” Gives at the Fort Belknap Hospital, passed away on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025, at his home due to natural causes. He was raised by his grandparents, Glen “Hop” & Leona “Clocky” Messerly. Dave grew up at the agency and spent a lot of time in Lodge Pole, where he enjoyed breaking and riding horses. He was known for many things in life, like his right hook, being the place where people loved to hang out, and being that guy who would give you the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket. He was a hard worker, and throughout his life, he worked in various professions, including fiber optics, construction, firefighting, and roustabouting; however, his favorite profession was when he was working as a bouncer. In 1978, Dave met Christine Jackson, and from this union, they had three children. In 1999, he met Bobbi Heppner, and Sarah would become Dave’s youngest baby. Dave was a man of few words, but his actions showed you exactly how he felt about you. His children were his greatest joys, and his two youngest grandchildren, Baby Jeffery “Tonto” and Timber, shared a special bond with Grandpa Dave “Papa”. Dave enjoyed getting wood, hunting, and fixing fence with his son Lionel “Fatman” and his daughter Sarah. This is what Dave loved the most. His oldest daughter Felicia “Witch” was his partner in crime and greatest confidant. Dave truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. He will forever be etched in our hearts.

Dave is survived by Robert “Ketsy” Healy, his children: Lionel (Michelle Felecia), Sarah (Jeffrey), Felicia (Wes), and James (Arlene), as well as his adopted daughter, Janeese Brisbo. Grandchildren: Macy, Brad, Tyra, Tyler, Serena, Timber, Tyrese, Quaneekwa, Gracie, baby Jeffery “Tonto”, Adaline and Keith; Brothers: Gerald “Manny” Healy, Doug Messerly Sr. (Berta), Gordon Messerly (Susan), and Leon Messerly; Sisters: Glenda, Berta, Shirley (Clint), Shelly, Leona “Sissy” (Buzza), Shirley (Jim). Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special nieces Terry Ann & Rachel Messerly.

He is preceded in death by: his parents and grandparents and Gerald “Bessy” Healy Sr., his son Parker “Shine” Messerly, brothers: Dean Messerly, Robert Messerly, Mike Messerly, & Milton “Scoot” Healy, and his Sisters: Barbara Ball, Carol Jean Doney, Marjorie “Snooks” Snell & Audrey Healy; Niece Amanda Messerly; Nephew Cooper Healy.

Apologies if we have forgotten anyone in our time of grieving; it was not intentional.
