Daryl Anita Brockie passed away peacefully at the sweet age of 72 on September 7, 2024 at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls.
Daryl was the second child born to Cecil “Buck” Jones and Florine “Cochran” Jones on June 30, 1952 at Fort Belknap Agency.
She attended school at Hays Mission School and then went on to Flandreau Indian Boarding School where she graduated.
Daryl met Robert “Bob” Brockie in 1971 and they were married in 1974. To this union they had two sons Jacob Kenneth Brockie and Tyler Joseph Brockie.
She made her career working for Indian Health Service and retiring as the Service Unit Director at Fort Belknap Agency. After retiring, they made their permanent home in Hays until her passing.
Daryl enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. She loved going to concerts and pow wows. She loved George Strait and the Rolling Stones.
Daryl is preceded in death by her mother; father; son Tyler; husband Bob; sister Karma; Grampa Frank; and Gramma Rosie.
Daryl is survived by her son Jake and their cat Jasper; her adopted daughter Kari Covers Up; sisters Laura, Zita (Bryan), Karen, Cissy (Mike); brothers Tom (Vikki), Kenny (Kim), Jesse (Deb), she was very fond of her nieces Jacy, Sarah, Keya, Tiffany, and Dawn. She leaves behind many friends; Grace Pipe, Jackie Lee, Brenda and Noni Essert, Karol Black Hawk, Mary and Felecia Mount, Bill Quincy, and Myrna Gardipee.
A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Mission Church, Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with a viewing at 10:00 AM. Immediately after the service, Daryl will be taken to the Jones Cemetery and laid to rest by her husband and son Tyler.
