Clayton Kean Carrywater, born April 30th, 1948, passed away on June 26th, 2024 in Spokane, WA. Clayton was born to Ezra Carrywater and Mary Mildred (Snell) Missey. He grew up in Lodgepole before leaving to attend job corp at the age of 15.
Clayton lived in numerous states before making Spokane his permanent residence. During this time, he met Virginia Parrish and together they had two sons, Clayton Dean and Jaycee. Clayton also helped raise his stepdaughter, Frances.
For a short period of time Clayton and Virginia resided at Fort Belknap where he attended Fort Belknap College (now called Aaniiih Nakoda College) where he graduated with an Associates degree in Human Services.
Clayton is preceded in death by his father Ezra Carrywater and mother, Mary Missey, stepfather, Earl Missey, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Moses Carrywater and Anne Sleeping Bear; maternal grandparents, Richard and Carrie (Young) Snell; brothers, Daley Carrywater and Earl Missey, Jr.; his wife, Virginia (Parrish) Carrywater; son, Jaycee Carrywater and stepdaughter, Frances Eaglelite.
He is survived by his son Clayton Dean Carrywater; his only sister, Margaret “Peggy” (Robert) Fox; numerous grandchildren; his lifelong friend Cecilia “Boppers” Shortman; numerous cousins and the Bear Family that adopted him as a brother.
