Anna Lee Shippen, 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 of natural causes at the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, MT.
Anna was born on November 24, 1938 in Montrose, Colorado the oldest child of Art and Ruth (Moore) McKelvey. Anna married William Hotchkiss and they had three children: Billy, Phil and Janice. Anna & William eventually divorced. Anna raised her children as a single parent. Later in life Anna married Bob Shippen of Malta.
Anna was a graduate of Montrose High School and also attended Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. She worked as a truck driver delivering mail from Montrose to Telluride, Colorado. She also did bookkeeping for the trucking company, taught art in Montrose & Ridgeway, Colorado and worked as an Administrative Clerk for the State of Alaska in Juneau.
Anna enjoyed genealogy, history, reading, writing stories, drawing/painting, gardening and her pets.
Anna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served a senior LDS mission in Dallas, Texas prior to moving to Alaska.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, two of her children: Billy and Janice Hotchkiss, her husband Bob Shippen, her brother-in-law Curtis Robinson and her niece Jill Pierson.
Anna is survived by her son Phillip (Terry) Hotchkiss of Malta; her granddaughter Megan (Garret) Wallen of Shelby, MT and five great-grandchildren; her siblings: Rose Robinson & Joy (Curtis) Hamill of Montrose, Colorado; Jack (Carol) McKelvey of Durango, Colorado and Eddie (Lucy) McKelvey of Bloomfield, New Mexico.
Anna's Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at the Malta Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Cremation has taken place. Her remains will be interred at the Malta Cemetery following the memorial service.
