Amy Burgett, 95 passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of July 30,2024, due to natural causes at Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, Mt. Services will be held at 1 P.M. Wednesday August 7, 2024 at Havre Assembly of God church.
Amy was born on November 28, 1928, to Nels & Ethel Jensen in Circle, Mt. The family farmed north of Circle near Redwater River, where Nels had homesteaded. Amy attended country school & graduated from Circle High School.
She worked in Circle after graduating high school. There she met Richard (Dick) Burgett, who had just returned from the Army. Amy & Dick married June 1, 1954, and had two children Nancy & Dean. They were married 59 years until Dick’s passing in 2013. They lived in Fort Peck. Mt until the kids left home. They then had several jobs in Washington & Melrose & Miles City , Mt before retiring in 1996 & moving to Billings MT. Amy stayed in Billings for 1 year after Dicks’ death then moved to Havre to be close to family. She lived at Timber Creek Village & later moved into NMCC where she lived until her passing.
Amy was a homemaker & did not work outside the home until the children were out of school. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, & lots of reading. She volunteered at several libraries. Later in life as she lost her eyesight, she enjoyed audio books.
Amy is survived by her daughter, Nancy Gierke (Tim – Amy’s favorite son in law) of Havre & son Dean of Lewistown, four grandchildren & several great & great, great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Marj & Josie Jensen, Dee Ellis & brother in law Ray Burgett. She was preceded in death by her husband Dick, her parents, daughter in law Karen Burgett, two great grandsons, her brothers Delbert, Leo & Larry.
