Aloysius Plumage Obituary

Aloysius Frank Plumage, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and tradition.

Frank was born on October 9, 1945, at Fort Belknap, Montana, to Josephine Longknife Plumage and Aloysius Plumage. He spent his childhood at Belknap, where his roots in family and culture were deeply planted. In 1963, he proudly joined the U.S. Army in Butte, Montana, serving three years of active duty. After his service, he moved to California in 1966 to attend diesel mechanic trade school, beginning a lifelong dedication to skilled craftsmanship.

In 1970, Frank met the love of his life, Margaret Ann Bear, and together they built a family filled with devotion and joy. They welcomed their first son, Franklin Dean Plumage, in 1971. Soon after, they settled in Moses Lake, Washington, where Frank began his career as a respected journeyman sheet metal worker following a four-year apprenticeship. Their family grew with the births of Marshall Plumage in 1977 and Lacey Plumage in 1978. Together, Frank and Marge raised their children in Moses Lake, often returning to Fort Belknap for pow-wows that kept them connected to tradition and community.

Frank’s love for dance was a lifelong passion. He was a traditional dancer on the pow-wow circuit and, in the early 1990s, began gathering items for his regalia. He inspired his granddaughters—Madalyn (Plumage) Babak, Vivienne Plumage, and Alisia (Plumage) Krebbs—to dance, encouraging them to embrace the jingle style. He and Marge proudly traveled with them to pow-wows across the Pacific Northwest, passing on the beauty of culture and tradition.

In his later years, Frank cherished time with his younger grandchildren, often driving hours to watch them play football and basketball in Lacey, Washington. His unwavering support was felt not only by his family but also by the coaches, who honored his heartfelt requests to see his grandchildren play the entire game. His presence in the stands will be deeply missed.

Above all, Frank was a man of faith. He was never shy about asking others if they were saved, and he lived unashamed of his relationship with Jesus. His family finds comfort knowing he is now made whole and rejoicing in heaven with his Maker.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother Josephine Longknife Plumage, his father Aloysius Plumage, his sister Alene Opal Plumage and his brother Clifford Thomas Plumage, a son Darrin Plumage and a granddaughter Vanessa Ann Plumage.

Frank leaves behind his devoted wife, Margaret; his brother Alton John Plumage, his children Franklin, Marshall, and Lacey; his cherished grandchildren; his sister Faye Filesteel and a wide circle of family and friends who will forever remember his strength, humor, and love. His legacy lives on in the traditions he upheld, the faith he shared, and the family he nurtured.
