Alice McAdams Obituary

Alice Heisler DeMontigny McAdams, was welcomed through heaven’s gates on September 19, 2021 at the age of 91years.  She had been residing at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, MT for the past few months.  She passed on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, peacefully in her sleep.

Alice was born on December 25, 1929, in Masefield Sask. Canada, as a Christmas blessing to her parents Mike and Mary (Schatz) Heisler.  She was the oldest of 8 children.  Alice’s early years were spent on her family’s farm, with her siblings, and she attended school in Masefield and Val Marie Sask. As Alice grew, she was always a care-taker for her younger siblings and that grew into one of her favorite jobs; working as an aide in the Val Marie hospital.

Alice loved to attend dances and during those years she met her husband Gustave “Pete” DeMontigny.  They were married in Val Marie, Sask. on May 21, 1951.  Pete and Alice resided in Montana and together they had five daughters, Christina, Janet, Shirley, Rena and Danette.  As a family they enjoyed camping, spending a lot of time with extended family and always were a big part of the Catholic Church.

As the years passed, Pete and Alice eventually made their home in Whitewater MT, where Alice began her employment at the Whitewater Public Schools as a school cook.  Alice retired in 1992, after 22 years of service.

After Pete’s passing, Alice married Charles McAdams on April 15, 1978 in Whitewater MT.  Chuck brought four children to this union, Sharon, Laurel, Maureen and Kelly.

Chuck and Alice remained in Whitewater until 1993, when they moved to Billings MT to enjoy their retirement years.  While living in Billings they spent their days garage sailing, visiting family and friends, camping and gardening.  Alice was always known for her great sewing skills, cooking and crocheting.

Once Chuck passed away in 2017, Alice made her home in Malta, MT where she could be close to her family.  Later she moved to Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow where she could have her health needs met.

“Mom had a great faith in God and we know she was welcomed by her family and friends who passed before her.  She prayed daily, held her rosary tight and took comfort in knowing she would see her Lord one day.”

Alice is survived by daughters, Janet (Darryl) Carlier, Shirley Bakken, Rena (Bob) Math, Danette (Alan) Love, Maureen Guerechit, Sharon Beisen, Laurel (Bob) Koch and son Kelly (Georgia) McAdams, sisters Del Croteau, Marce Eykelbosh, Pat (Guy) Dunand, Jo Spring, Jackie (Al) Wittal, and brother Mike (Sue) Heisler, 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husbands’ Pete and Chuck, daughter Tina, brother Don Heisler, brothers-in-law Leon Croteau and George Eykelbosh, God-son Gary Croteau and great-nephew Tanner Graf.

Funeral Services will be held at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 1 pm.  Graveside services and burial will follow at the Malta Cemetery.  A reception will be held afterwards at the Tin Cup, Malta Golf Course
